Borgo Valsugana, the heart of the Valley.

Borgo Valsugana is the main town of the “Bassa- Valsugana”. Located in one of the narrowest points of the Valley, has developed around the River Brenta, between Monte Ciolino on the north and Monte Rocchetta on the south. Its old town is the only one in Trentino that have developed on both sides of the river, becoming so the most significant fluvial urban landscape of the region.

The village is very particular: characterized by the Venetian style, recognizable from the architecture of the buildings, the streets and the small lanes. The main street , Corso Ausugum will be very appreciated by curious people, because of its Baroque portals and shops with local products.

From Corso Ausugum through ancient arches and arcades people can reach the streets of the “Borgo Vecchio”: very narrow ones that follow each other in an alternating up and down, sided by traditional and ancient houses and new decorated and recently renovated buildings. Here it is easy to see picturesque corners that seem to go back in time into an atmosphere of tranquility and thoughtlessness..

Continuing on, you can climb up to the “I frati” a little church, from where you can enjoy the view of the village from above: the red, black or brown roofs or the evocative lights in the evening. Continuing on the other hand, there it the walk to the Telvana Castle, or for more trained people, the path to Torcegno.

Other ideas to satisfy artistic cultural interests, is to have a look at the churches of St. Anne, St. Francis and St. Roch, the venetian bridge on the Brenta river, Palazzo Ceschi, Sala Degasperi, the museum of the World War, the Spazio Tognolli Klien and the forge. Spazi Livio Rossi along Corso Ausugum, is an exhibitions of artistic and photographic images, in collaboration with various organizations, first of all, Arte Sella.

Finally, we can not forget to walk along the “Lungo Brenta Trieste”, characterized by the ancient arcades, which often host exhibitions of various kinds, organized by the associations of the village.
